Equity + Inclusion
Equity + Inclusion are critical to all workplaces and spaces for expanding experiences, sharing perspectives and opening opportunities to a wider base of individuals. NC TECH has several initiatives to support members in their efforts including events, a dedicated channel in our virtual community, NC TECH Connect, incorporating content in all programs and events, and connecting with diverse suppliers.
Women in Tech
North Carolina is the #1 state in the US for the Percentage of Women in the Technology Industry. Women make up 37.1 percent of the tech workforce. NC TECH has several programs and groups to support, retain, develop, and attract more women to technology fields. NC TECH hosts a Summit for Women in Tech, supports scholarships for women studying technology or engineering, hosts Lean In Circles for small group connections, and manages an online community specific for women in tech.

SparkNC partners with school systems and industry partners to accelerate student progress on pathways to careers in high-tech fields
The mission of FIRST North Carolina aligns with the mission of FIRST - to provide life-changing robotics programs that give young people the skills, confidence, and resilience to build a better world.

Code the Dream provides free software development training and apprenticeships to low-income and underrepresented adults in North Carolina, focusing on workforce development. Their program equips participants with coding skills, leading to CTD Labs where they build real apps for nonprofits under mentorship.
