The NC TECH Cyber Security Network connects professionals, executives, and practitioners across North Carolina who are focused on protecting digital assets and managing cyber risk. Through quarterly programs held across the state, participants share insights, explore emerging threats, and discuss best practices in cybersecurity strategy, governance, and innovation. The Network provides an opportunity for collaboration among peers from technology companies, enterprises, government, and academia to strengthen North Carolina’s cybersecurity ecosystem.
This quarter, we will have an executive briefing, followed by a panel on quantifying the ROI on cybersecurity.

Panel Discussion: The Real ROI of Security and AI: Quantifying What They Actually Deliver For years, boards approved security spending based on precedent, compliance requirements, or peer benchmarking. Then leaders learned to translate risk into dollars and defend every investment on those terms. Today, AI is being adopted the same way security once was: enthusiastically, and without rigor. Development and internal teams are burning tokens and compute on AI workflows with little visibility into whether it's actually faster or cheaper than doing the work manually. This panel brings together security and technology leaders to explore practical models for measuring what both security and AI investments actually deliver, from breach cost calculations to token-cost-versus-labor-cost analysis, giving executives and boards a shared framework for smarter decisions across both domains.
