Member Spotlight: Marka Health
This month’s member spotlight features Marka Health, submitted by founder Lindsay McGraw. Marka Health was founded by a physical therapist who saw firsthand how preventable workplace injuries were impacting employees and realized the best solution was proactive care rather than reactive treatment. Today, the company helps employers improve employee wellbeing through ergonomic assessments, injury prevention programs, and wellness workshops that reduce discomfort, lower injury claims, and boost productivity. Looking ahead, Marka Health is expanding its virtual services across North Carolina while partnering with HR leaders to make employee wellbeing a core part of workplace culture.
Marka Health's Origin Story
Marka Health started in the clinic. As a physical therapist, I kept treating the same preventable injuries — necks, backs, wrists — in people whose only "risk factor" was a desk and a laptop. I realized the highest-leverage place to help wasn't the treatment table after the fact, it was the workplace before the pain ever started. So I built Marka Health to bring doctor-level ergonomic and wellness care directly to employers and their teams, wherever they work. What began as one PT solving an obvious problem has grown into a company helping organizations keep their people healthy, comfortable, and productive.
What problems are they are solving for customers?
The modern workday is quietly hard on the body. Hybrid and remote work scattered everyone to kitchen tables and couches, and even in-office teams sit through back-to-back screens all day — which shows up as discomfort, lost focus, and musculoskeletal injury claims. We help employers get ahead of that with onsite and virtual ergonomic assessments, injury-prevention programs, and wellness workshops. The result for our clients: fewer claims, more comfortable employees, and a tangible signal to their teams that the company cares about their wellbeing.
Marka Health's Future Plans
We're focused on making this kind of care easy to roll out across distributed teams — scaling our virtual offerings so a company can support an employee at a home office in Asheville as easily as one in a Raleigh tower. We're also deepening our partnerships with NC's People and HR leaders to build wellbeing into how companies operate, not bolt it on afterward. Growing our footprint across the Triangle and the broader NC tech community is a big part of that.
Why is NC a great place to do Business?
Our family moved here from the Bay Area, so I can say it with fresh eyes: the Triangle has the density and ambition of a major tech hub but with a genuine, welcoming community underneath it. People here actually want to connect and help each other grow. For a company like ours that serves employers and their teams, being surrounded by so many thoughtful, people-first organizations — and an ecosystem like NC TECH that brings them together — makes North Carolina hard to beat.
How can NC TECH members get involved with your company?
Two easy ways. First, fellow members get a complimentary 15-minute posture check with me — quick, virtual, genuinely useful, no pitch: schedule HERE. Second, if your company is thinking about ergonomics or employee wellbeing and isn't sure where to start, I'm always happy to be a sounding board. Reach me at lindsay@markahealth.com or connect on LinkedIn — and come say hi if you see me at an NC TECH event.
