Women Leading in Tech: Michelle Coviello

As part of NC TECH’s Women Leading in Tech blog series leading up to the 2025 Summit for Women in Tech, we’re spotlighting women across North Carolina who are shaping the future of technology through leadership, innovation, and impact. Meet Michelle Coviello, VP of New Business Development at Dualboot Partners.

A Career Sparked by Consulting

Michelle’s path in technology began at Sapient Corporation, where she was first introduced to technology consulting. Seeing how custom software and digital strategies could solve complex business challenges sparked her passion for the industry. That early exposure laid the foundation for her more than 20 years in the IT industry, specializing in strategy, operations, and customer success. Today, at Dualboot Partners, she helps clients develop custom software while building trusted customer relationships that drive growth.

Success Through Service

When asked about her proudest professional accomplishment, Michelle stated that it has been her work with Apparo, a nonprofit dedicated to empowering other nonprofits through technology. As a board member, she helps to raise over $1 million each year to directly support Apparo’s mission of connecting nonprofits with the tools and volunteers they need.

Inspired by Resilient Leaders

If she could swap roles for a week, Michelle would choose Sara Blakely, founder of Spanx. “Her journey is a masterclass in entrepreneurship and resilience,” Michelle says. As someone who works in new business development, Michelle admires Blakely’s ability to spot an untapped market, push through rejection, and ultimately build a billion-dollar brand.

Supporting Women in Tech

Michelle's team at Dualboot Partners works with organizations such as SIM Women, Carolina Women in Tech, and the Women’s Technology Alliance of Charlotte, while also supporting female founder networks like Growing Women Entrepreneurs (gWen) and nonprofits such as the Dottie Rose Foundation. These partnerships help expand opportunities for women at every stage of their careers.

Why the Women in Tech Summit Matters

Michelle is a strong advocate for the NC TECH Summit for Women in Tech, calling it “crucial for professional and personal growth.” She describes the event as not only about gaining insights from industry leaders but also about building a supportive community that encourages women to advance and lead. She has also helped connect the Summit with dynamic speakers eager to share their stories and inspire others.

Habits, Hikes, and Family Time

Michelle’s recommended read is Atomic Habits by James Clear, a book that offers practical tools for making small changes that drive big results. On her days off, she embraces a blend of outdoor adventure, like hiking on local trails and family time that includes relaxing by the pool with a good book, and ending the day with a home-cooked meal and movie night with her family.

Her favorite quote, attributed to Thomas Edison, is:

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time.”

For Michelle, technology is about software and strategy, and people and purpose. And through her leadership, she continues to prove how resilience and relationships drive lasting impact.

Thank you, Michelle, for being on the Host Committee for the Summit for Women in Tech! This event will be held on September 17-18 in a new location, Wilmington, NC!
