What makes you excited to go to work each day?
I am excited to build "social capital" with a diverse community of IT professionals, both those who are seasoned veterans and newcomers alike. There is a lot of excitement about what the future of work will look like in this field. I hope in some small way that I can play a part in shaping it.
What would people be surprised to learn about you?
Many people are surprised to learn that I am naturally an introvert. Over the years, I have honed my communication skills and developed strategies to address large audiences effectively. Purposeful networking has been key to my overcoming the tendency to be a wallflower at events. I approach each gathering with the clear objective of connecting with at least one individual who aligns with a particular goal of mine, turning it into an exciting treasure hunt.
Why are you involved with NC TECH and what's your favorite activity or event?
I consider NC Tech the foremost IT networking group in North Carolina. The caliber of leaders it attracts, the events it hosts, and the audience it draws are pivotal to our success as a consulting, training, and services company.
The events that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion resonate with me deeply, as they align with my passion. I firmly believe that we cannot meet the industry's demands without the inclusion of currently underrepresented communities.
What's your favorite hidden gem in North Carolina?
Undoubtedly, my affection for North Carolina's Outer Banks is profound. Traditionally, my family celebrates Thanksgiving in the OBX, and these gatherings have become legendary among extended family members who have had the opportunity to join us.
There is so much entertainment available these days - give us a recommendation for a favorite television or podcast series.
I enjoy several YouTube channels, that I call my Virtual Mentors. Tony Robbins and Myron Golden! I particularly like their practical guidance that can be applied immediately. They also speak to principals regarding self-awareness and mindset that resonate with me.
