Lean in Circles

NC Tech Lean in Circles have launched. Sign up now to join a circle! NC Tech x Lean In x Lean in Circle

For many women, finding connection and support at work is a challenge. About 20% of women say they’re often the only woman in the room at work. And since most senior leaders are men, women have less access to mentors, sponsors, and role models who can relate to their experiences. For women of color and women with other marginalized identities, it’s even harder to find support to navigate challenges or chart a unique career path.

That’s why NC TECH partnered with LeanIn.org – the nonprofit organization founded by Sheryl Sandberg – to launch Lean In Circles - a space where women can come together in small groups across roles and levels to get peer-to-peer mentorship, connect with each other, recognize, and combat gender bias, and build leadership skills. Whether you need help navigating your new normal at work or are looking for support from women who understand what you're going through, your Circle can give you the boost we all need.

2025 Lean In Circles are Now Open for Enrollment

Thank you to the dynamic women below who have stepped up to be 2025 Circle Leaders.  If you would like to join a Circle, review the descriptions and meeting times to determine which may be the best fit.  There is a max of 10 women per Circle and when a Circle is full you will no longer be able to select it. Circles will meet virtually once a month from January to June 2025.

It is free to participate in a Circle though we ask you to be mindful that space is limited and only register if you can commit to being an active participant.  Registration is on a first come basis and will close when all Circles are full.  When Circles are full, NC TECH will make introductions between the Leaders and their Circles.

Note: If you want to lead a Circle but have not yet registered to do so, please contact Michelle Calton at Michelle@nctech.org

Women often do not speak up for fear of being ridiculed, dismissed, or wrongfully accused of being argumentative. Women of color often are invisible in spaces where men traditionally have been leaders and decision makers. By practicing speaking first, speaking with authority, and interrupting if needed, this Lean in Circle will learn how and when to speak up for ourselves. By being more vocal and visible, we also become vulnerable. And that's okay, we'll embrace the vulnerability!
