Accessibility Hackathon Presented by Ablr

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month and we're shining a spotlight on the crucial need for all websites and digital media to be accessible for all.  Why is digital accessibility important in the first place?  Simply stated, accessibility is a civil right.  People of all abilities rely on the web for education, health care, entertainment, shopping, and employment, and we need to ensure that people who use assistive technology can do so.

NC TECH and Ablr are hosting an Accessibility Hackathon on October 28th.  As members of NC TECH, this is your chance to find out if your company’s website is accessible with the chance to win a FREE accessibility audit worth $5,000.

Twenty six percent of Americans (or 66 million individuals) have a disability and may not be able to access your website content.  Introducing Ablr, the human centric testing firm that audits websites using people who are blind and low vision so ensure that everyone can benefit from your service, product or mission.

As part of your membership at NC TECH, Ablr is offering three companies a free website audit to be conducted in a live hackathon demonstrating how people of different abilities use the internet and consume your content.  Each winner will receive a report that includes an overview of the audit findings, a detailed spreadsheet with a list of violations and recommendations for remediation, and a video of the user experience workflow.  By ensuring your website and content are accessible you're abiding by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and protecting your organization from potential lawsuits.
