The Tech Exec of the Year will be selected through a "people's choice" format.  Whether you are an NC TECH member or nonmember, everybody is encouraged to cast their vote. The winner will be announced live at the NC TECH Awards Gala on November 21.

This poll is intended as a fun, unscientific exercise.  Please note these guidelines:

  • Voting will close at 5pm on September 27.
  • Votes should be cast by individuals, not via automated methods.
  • Vote totals per nominee are not released; only a winner is announced at awards gala.
  • System allows one vote per 24 hour period from an IP address.

Matthew Zielinski

Matthew Zielinski

SVP + President, Lenovo North America

Lenovo’s North America IDG organization has reached unprecedented heights under Matt Zielinski’s leadership. The business closed its strongest year ever in fiscal 2019 (ending March 31, 2019) with records in PC share, shipments, revenue and profit. That momentum has carried over! In its first quarter FY20 ending June 30, Lenovo achieved its highest quarterly share ever in North America at 17.3%, compared to 14.8% the same quarter a year ago. Other highlights include Lenovo reaching number 1 in PC share in Canada for the first time ever, fourth quarter FY19, and number 2 in the U.S. consumer market for the first time, first quarter FY20.

Beyond these results, the organization has undoubtedly experienced a cultural transformation since Zielinski joined Lenovo in February 2018. More than just keen business acumen, his leadership is defined by his energy, enthusiasm and approachability. Zielinski’s passion fosters a sense of optimism, confidence and excitement that inspires staff members to give their best daily to support customers’ success. Even with the proven results to date, NA staff believe the best is yet to come.

Prior to joining Lenovo, Zielinski spent more than twelve years at AMD, holding several key global leadership roles, most recently as the company’s Corporate Vice President and General Manager of worldwide OEM sales. Prior to that, he led commercial and consumer business organizations. Earlier in his career, Zielinski held sales positions at Infineon Technologies and Sun Microsystems.

Zielinski holds a BSE in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He and his family live in Raleigh.

Zielinski serves on the board of NAF, a national network of education, business, and community leaders working together to ensure high school students are college, career, and future ready.
